Devastating loss to the neighborhood. This place was amazing. Brisket, ribs, and cornbread were second to none. Good luck in Canoga Park, fellas, wherever the hell that is!!

Adding this review for posterity purposes. Because this location looks like it's closed as of. 5/2024. They have a location that I think has opened up at the Topanga Social at the Westfield mall though. I thought the service was friendly when I went a few months ago. It was a pretty chill relax place too. Again it's gonna be a little different at the Topanga Social since that's essentially a high food court. At this location, I really enjoyed the brisket sandwich. It was tender and tasty with nice smoky flavors. The Frito pie was pretty well done as well.

My wife and I had been meaning to stop by Slab for years, and finally did. It was for lunch on a Tuesday at around 12:30pm. Customers were few and we were able to discuss options and details with our very friendly server (I forgot to ask his name), and to have a nice relaxing meal in their comfortable, but no frills dining area. I had the Brisket Plate with Beans as my Side. The Brisket was among the very best I have ever had, and it hurts me to say that I think I slightly prefer it over Bludsoe's. The point slices were smoky, juicy, and practically falling apart... AMAZING! The beans were very good. Their were a couple chunks of beef, and I think they add in a little bit of sweet potato like Dr. Hogly Wogly's in Van Nuys. My wife ordered the (Pulled) Pork & Chicken Combo with Mac & Cheese. I didn't think that the pork was that great, but the smoked half chicken more than made up for it. The chicken was smoky and delicious. And, it went quite well with their Original SLAB BBQ Sauce. The Mac & Cheese was cheesy and rather tasty. We really enjoyed the restaurant and will be returning soon to try the ribs and other offerings.

Slab Barbecue offers a truly delectable experience with their magnificent brisket, elevating culinary delight to new heights. The succulent, perfectly smoked brisket transcends the realm of mere barbecue, evoking a symphony of flavors that dance on the palate. The welcoming environment envelops patrons, creating a space akin to the therapeutic setting where one finds solace. Much like a therapy session, Slab Barbecue provides a sensory journey, each bite unlocking layers of satisfaction reminiscent of Freudian psychoanalysis. The interplay of savory textures mirrors the intricate workings of the human psyche, leaving one introspectively satisfied. In this gastronomic odyssey, the robust flavors stimulate not only the taste buds but also evoke a sense of catharsis, akin to the release of repressed emotions. The ambiance acts as a soothing backdrop, fostering an atmosphere where patrons can explore their culinary desires with the same introspection as a therapy session. Slab Barbecue's commitment to excellence extends beyond the plate, mirroring the nuanced approach of psychodynamic analysis. The delicious offerings serve as a metaphorical manifestation of the id, ego, and superego, creating a harmonious balance that parallels the intricate dynamics explored in Freudian theories. In summary, Slab Barbecue masterfully blends magnificent brisket with a welcoming environment, transcending the boundaries of traditional dining. The experience becomes a sensorial journey reminiscent of a therapy session, where the complexities of flavor mirror the intricacies of the human psyche.

I came here to try the limited time rib sammy before they take it off the menu. We ordered a rib sandwich, seasoned fries, and the macaroni and cheese. The rib sandwich and the seasoned fries were very good. The rib sandwich was on a seeded bun, slabs bbq sauce, homemade pickles, and onion. I also tried the Carolina gold sauce, and that sauce was good also. Macaroni and cheese wasn't good, no flavor and tasted like water. I was really excited about it too when the server said it was a fresh batch. Service was good. Card only!

I was recommended to check out Slab by one of my Yelp friends that i kept running into during events. He told me that Slab is probably one of the best BBQ spots around. So I went to go and check it out. A buddy and I went on a Sunday morning. Went down to check it out as soon as they opened. It is typical that BBQ spots serve until they run out and it is for sure they will run out. The biggest challenge was parking. Even for an early Sunday morning there were no places to park within the vicinity. My buddy and I arrived in separate cars and parked super far. I guess we got our steps pre and post meal. Since we were two people we thought we could get a little bit of everything and share. We ordered half baby back ribs, beef rib, fatty brisket, pulled pork and some sides. Everything was great and would love to have some more in the near future. The location isn't the best for my travels and the parking situation is pretty tight, but now there is a new location in Pasadena that I would probably have to check out when the crowd dies down a bit. Parking: metered street parking VERDICT: One and done

Been on a quest to find a favorite BBQ place, specifically the good ole American style ribs. When I got an email from Locale about this business, my eyes lit up, especially with the Fourth holiday less than a week away. Ordering something through Locale was a must. I got an order of the Tony's ribs (baby back), half rack (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=0QqbNLgNfNEbEoIgzhFslA&userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q) which came with pickles and pickled red onions; despite no directions being included, I knew exactly how to reheat it with my toaster oven and foil. They came out as I expected and hoped, off the bone tender and still moist enough. There was no sauce container provided but there was enough on the ribs that they were still flavorful. For those who like dipping, you might request extra sauce on the side (probably will next time). The tangy pickles and onions offered a nice contrast to the sweet barbecue sauce on the ribs. I also tried the baked beans (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=r3JNGNPPbOA-jAE_By_5lg&userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q), a generous portioned side dish. I steamed it as I didn't want to lose any of the sauce by baking them again. I liked them as the beans were more firm yet not hard. The other nice perk was that there were onions and carrots in this, besides some small bacon pieces. It was also not overly sweet like most canned varieties of this. Overall, I enjoyed this likely the best among the non-local BBQ places. Their company profile described their cuisine as Texas backyard BBQ style and it works for me. It was easy to reheat both the ribs and the beans. I hope to try more of their menu next time... and remember to request an extra small container of BBQ sauce for dipping.
